Meet the people that make Rancho Maria a reality!
Sebastian Juarez co-founded Rancho Maria Wines in the Fall of 2011. A second generation wine country kid, Sebastian spent his youth running with his dogs though vineyards and orchards. He realized his love for the valley from a very young age. His father, a vineyard manager, would take young Sebastian to work as he oversaw the establishment of some of Sonoma Counties most prestigious vineyards. As a kid, Sebastian would paddle his kayak up and down the Russian River to satisfy his thirst for adventure while exploring miles of riverside vineyards. As he grew, so did his love for wine. His parents would bring him along as they tasted wines from up and coming wineries around Sonoma & Napa County, occasionally allowing him to taste & spit. As a teenager, he aspired to know the secrets of wine country, so he offered to work for neighboring vineyards and wineries through the annual harvests.
As a young adult, Sebastian received both formal and informal wine training from family friends, neighbors, local chef’s to sommeliers, vintners and winemakers. Soaking up knowledge from anyone willing to teach and nourish his thirst for wine knowledge. Attending the Santa Rosa Junior College, he learned the fundamentals of wine business, viticulture and enology, while also working for various wineries throughout the Russian River & Dry Creek Valley.
Tre Coles was originally born in Southern California and grew up on camp Pendleton as his father was a Marine. He spent the first part of his life in Southern California riding bikes and playing on the beach with the other military kids. After spending ten years on base, the family moved back to their mothers hometown of Glen Ellen. Things were business as usual for young Tre, only now he was riding bikes on the same sidewalks his mom grew up on. The beaches were replaced by vineyards, and Tre was able to roam into the wine world.
Growing up down the street from Valley of the Moon Winery. Tre realized the magnitude of the wine industry from a young age. His mom would take him walking through the vineyards. One of his fondest memories as a kid is harvest time in Sonoma.
He realized the value of showmanship in wine. Good wine speaks for itself but a showmen will tell a story about the place it comes from. When compared to the luxury brand the small brands held a more personal feel to Tre.
